How does the audio/video quality compare to Zoom, Skype or Teams?
In short, most of the time it's just as good if not better. But not always.
Variance is most often due to two factors.
1. Peer-to-Peer vs Central Server
With peer-to-peer tools like HiDoq, there's direct communication between participants. This direct connection means that the audio and video is not travelling through a third-party central server, and is thus more secure.
Tools like Zoom, Skype, Teams, FaceTime and others send the audio and video through their servers. The advantage of this is that they can modify the audio and video quality as it goes through their server. The ability to alter the audio and video means in situations were one of the participants has weak WiFi or Internet, they can do things to make the quality better.
2. Browser-based vs Downloaded Software
HiDoq doesn't require health practitioners or patients download any software to conduct consultations. Nothing to install means it's super easy for patients, in particular, to participate in consultations.
Tools like Zoom, Skype and Teams require participants to download software before you can participate in a "call". Because they have a software program installed, again, they can do things to adjust the audio and video to make it appear better.
In summary, most of the time, the audio and video quality will be just as good. Other times, it will be good enough, but not as good as some of these other tools. So, if audio and video quality is your number-one priority, we recommend tools that send the video and audio through a central server like Zoom, Skype or Teams. But if privacy and security is your number-one priority, we recommend HiDoq!
